Which Calculator Should I Use?
- Use the sole custody calculator if one parent is going to have less than 110 overnights each year (30% of a calendar year).
- Use the joint custody calculator if each parent has between 111 and 182.5 overnights each year.
- Use the split custody calculator if each parent is going to have primary physical custody of one or more of the parties’ minor children.

The formula for calculating child support is derived from 78B-12-301(2). Remember that child support “follows the child” regardless of existing orders but you still have steps to take to remedy the same.
